A Country (Columbia)

PAPER INSTRUCTIONS FROM CUSTOMER

Assignment Topic :A Country (Columbia)

Number of Pages :5 Page/1375 Words
Format: APA

Description

Students are required to complete an independent research paper which explores a particular country’s experiences of globalization. This will involve developing an analysis about how globalization has affected a particular country. Every student will focus on a different country. All regions of the world will be represented. Students will have an opportunity to express their preference for which country they will research, but the instructor will make the final decision. Each student will be required to write a research paper (at least 5 double-spaced pages- without cover page and reference pages). Papers are due in May 3rd. The paper should identify within the very first paragraph which country student has picked and why. Then paper should provide information on how globalization has affected the country (economic, social, political, and cultural); development of national identity, its sovereignty and autonomy in the global arena, and its relationship with global powers (other nation-states, TNCs, IGOs, INGOs within and outside of the country); how war, terrorism and crime, and immigration have affected the country; or country’s role in global crime, terrorism and migration; how global media affected these experiences and country’s globalization process. Finally, the paper should conclude with a brief summary of the arguments presented in the paper, and any final assessments of the author. The paper will be graded by how fairly the student is able to represent his/her ideas, support his/her arguments with existing literature. The organization in the previous paragraphs should be closely followed if the student wants to maximize his/her grade. Unorganized papers will be penalized. The student should also take care not to plagiarize from other sources and should include a bibliography for any sources that are cited in the paper. When writing the paper, use the following format: 1. Keep the length at least 5 pages. Longer is not better. 2. All papers must be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman 12 point type and one inch margins. 3. You can either use APA style or MLA style. I prefer APA style but if you are familiar with MLA, then use MLA style. The examples of APA style are provided below. Here is the link for MLA style. https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/ml a_formatting_and_style_guide.html 4. Number your pages and spell-check them before submission. 5. Cite at least ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN PEER-REVIEWED JOURNALS. To locate the peer reviewed article on the selected topic use Google scholar or Nicholls online library with filtering peer-review or scholarly peer review. WIKIPEDIA and encyclopedias are not acceptable sources. If you are unsure about your source, please email the instructor). When citing references according to APA style (in-text citations): a. place them at the end of the sentence or paragraph in which they are cited; b. in parentheses put the last name of the author, the year of the publication, and the page number if using a quote). For example, if citing a book written by Rushing in 1995, at the end of the sentence put (Rushing, 1995). If quoting directly, put (Rushing, 1995:37) to include the page number. If quotes are more than four lines in length they should be indented and single spaced. Use direct quotes sparingly. This is a short paper, please do not use very long direct quotes more than once or twice. 6. Include a cover page that, from the top left, lists: your name; course title and number (SOCI 405_H3M); the title of your paper; my name, and the date of submission. 7. All papers must include a bibliography at the end, using a standard format, even if you have only one source. The bibliography should be of an acceptable format and alphabetized. (For examples, look in the reference section of any journal or book written with APA style.) * Example for peer-reviewed journal: Wilcox, S. (2010). Social relationships and PTSD symptomatology in combat veterans. Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy, 2(3), 175. Example for book: Uchino, B. N. (2004.) Social Support and Physical Health: Understanding the Health Consequences of Relationships. Yale University Press. Example for website: US Department of State. (2016). Foreign terrorist organizations. Retrieved from http://www.state.gov/j/ct/rls/other/des/123085.htm 8. Citations in the text must correspond to a work listed in your bibliography. Don’t cite anything you don’t also list in your bibliography, and don’t pad your bibliography with publications you haven’t actually used. 9. Grades will be based on the quality of information you bring together, quality of your writing, quality of the sources, and the extent to which you followed #s 1-8. 10. Plagiarism is FORBIDDEN. Cite every source from which you use an idea that was not original with you. If you are not certain what this means, ask me.
